On a summer morning in 1958, 57 notable jazz musicians came together to be photographed on a street in Harlem, New York City. The photo is titled A Great Day in Harlem and represents a community bound together by music.

Today, thanks to your membership support, we follow in the spirit of A Great Day in Harlem and maintain 91.7 FM as a center for jazz, a place where music history and creativity continues to be fostered, and above all a place where jazz fans new and old find a sense of community and place. Tune in every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. for KRTU's South Texas Jazz Project, a one-hour program presenting recordings of jazz artists and artistry from around the region. The program is rebroadcast every Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
KRTU's South Texas Jazz Project presents and preserves the rich heritage of jazz music in San Antonio and the surrounding areas and makes its legacy accessible for future generations through recordings of live performances, interviews with artists and associates, and packaged broadcasts highlighting the area's current and historic jazz legacy.
