KRTU iPhone app

A new iPhone app, a new website and much, much more

by Kate Rawley Warters and J.D. Swerzenski

KRTU continues to embrace the newest, fastest, most modern technological advancements in the name of sharing jazz programming with loyal listeners. We invite you to explore the many ways we are sharing jazz radio with San Antonio and beyond.

Website

This spring, KRTU is proud to unveil a new and improved website. It retains the features you valued in the old site - the program schedule, Listen Live and Playback archive features, secure donation forms - but now also includes show playlists, an updated jazz calendar, live feeds to KRTU's social media, an interactive show schedule and room for expanded website services. We hope you'll like the new look of the site, too.

Log on to krtu.org to explore the new site. In fact, while you are there, click on the "contact us" logo in the upper right hand corner to email us and tell us know what you think.

Listen Live & Playback

You don't need a radio to pick up our live broadcast. Thousands already tune in to Jazz 91.7 through our Listen Live feature, available 24 hours a day, from anywhere in the world. We have jazz fans listening from Tokyo, Brazil, Scotland and even a tiny island of the coast of West Africa!

In addition to our live broadcast, there's also the Playback feature, allowing you to listen to any program from the past week, anytime of day.

In this day and age, options for jazz on the radio are few and far between. By offering the Listen Live feature and the Playback audio archive online, KRTU is pushing great music to areas not lucky enough to find it on the traditional radio dial.

iPHONE MOBILE APP

KRTU has come a long way since it was founded in 1976. Since then, we've boosting our signal, refining the programming and upgrading the technology to include HD transmission. Now we take it a step further with the KRTU mobile iPhone app.

Now you can listen to our live broadcast from your iPhone, iPad, or other Apple device, plus check out the other cool features like the on-air schedule and info about music now playing. To get the app, just search KRTU in the apple apps store, download it and start listening.

Social Media

You know about the thriving jazz community in the Alamo City, but perhaps you haven't plugged into the equally thriving jazz community online. Listeners, station staff, volunteers and jazz fans from around the world come together using KRTU's Facebook community (see an example post on the next page). Over 1,600 listeners have already joined. With real time updates about KRTU and lively discussions with listeners, it's one of the best ways to keep you plugged in. To become a fan, sign in to your Facebook.com account (if you don't have one yet, you can register for free!) and search "KRTU 91.7." Select the "Like" button to join. KRTU updates and conversations will automatically be added to your feed.

KRTU is advancing forward with the technology of the 21st century, hoping to make your experience as a listener more enjoyable and fulfilling. Thanks for your continued support, which makes all of these new features possible.
